activpayroll’s UK offices celebrated National Payroll Week from Monday 4th September to Friday 8th September 2017 by taking part in a range of fundraising activities in aid of four charities.
National Payroll Week is one of the biggest celebrations of the year within the payroll industry. It is an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the impact payroll has on business and the contribution that it makes to the UK economy. Each year there is a different theme for NPW, and this year it was ‘put payroll in the spotlight’, focusing on celebrating the profession and those working within it.
As a means of celebrating, activpayroll takes part in various charity activities each year and this year was no different. The Aberdeen team took part in a cyclothon at Sainsbury’s in aid of Friends of Anchor. Two exercise bikes were situated at the entrance of the store and activpayroll team members took it in turns throughout the day to cycle continuously for six hours. Thanks to the generosity of Sainsbury’s customers, over £925 was raised.
The Aberdeen team also held a bake sale where various homemade goodies were on sale to purchase. Meanwhile in the Edinburgh office, the team took part in dress down week, meaning team members were able to dress casually every day of the week, provided they donated £1 to charity each day they chose to do so.
Money raised from the bake sale and dress down week will be split between activpayroll’s three remaining chosen charities: Maggie’s, SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health) and Children 1st.
Alison Sellar, CEO of activpayroll, commented: “National Payroll Week is always a great time to not only raise awareness of the industry and the vital role it plays, but to also help others by raising money for charity. Over the years, we have recognised just how much the team enjoys National Payroll Week, it’s a great way to keep morale high within the team as well!”
