On Friday 23 June 2017, the ladies from activpayroll joined hundreds of others to take part in the very first Maggie’s Culture Crawl in Aberdeen.
Starting from the Maggie’s Centre at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, the team embarked on a 10 mile night walk with exclusive access to some of the city’s most iconic buildings along the way. The walkers got to visit buildings such as the Sir Duncan Rice Library, St Machar Cathedral, Transition Extreme and finally finishing the walk at the Winter Gardens in Duthie Park.
All money raised from the crawl will go directly to supporting the Maggie’s Aberdeen Centre which costs over £400,000 a year to run. The centre offers free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer as well as their family and friends. Built in the grounds of Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Maggie’s Aberdeen has professional staff on hand to offer the support people need.
So far this year, the activpayroll team has taken part in the Balmoral 10K in aid of Maggie’s and will also be taking part in Ride the North in August for the charity.
Alison Sellar, CEO of activpayroll commented: “The Culture Crawl was a great way to raise money for Maggie’s while doing something a bit out of the ordinary. It was also something we could enjoy as a group and suited everyone’s fitness abilities. The organisation that had been put into the event was phenomenal and could not be faulted in anyway. We are already looking forward to taking part next year!”
