Get to know the our International Payments Manager based in the Aberdeen HQ.
What is your name?
Euan Grant
What is your job title?
International Payments Manager
What do you do?
I manage and support the International Payments Team in Aberdeen, UK.
What key skills have you gained at activpayroll?
Since joining activpayroll, I have built up a large amount of knowledge around international payment requirements, processes and legislation.
What gives you the most satisfaction about your job?
I was the sole member of the International Payments Team when I first joined the company. Today, I lead a team of six and we handle a significant volume of payments and queries on a monthly basis.
How did you get into the Payroll/Tax industry and why?
activpayroll is my first job within the payroll industry, prior to this role I dealt with finance projects for a large oil and gas company. When I saw the role at activpayroll advertised, I thought it looked really interesting and would be a new challenge for me. Almost five years later and I’m still here!
What has been the most challenging project you’ve worked on at activpayroll? Why?
It would have to be the implementation of a large payment solution for an existing customer with very tight deadlines. The project involved implementing our payment solution in a country we had not previously used. There was a significant amount of documentation involved with some data issues to overcome. Due to the tight deadline, there was limited time and scope for testing. In the end it all went well and is still running smoothly to this very day.
What do you consider to be your greatest achievement outside of activpayroll?
Either completing my Honours Degree in Accounting and Finance or finding someone silly enough to marry me.
What company value means the most to you and why?
Flexible – I think it fits in very well in terms of what we do with payments. For customers, there is very rarely a “one size fits all solution” and we need to be flexible in our offering.
Do you have any hobbies/what do you like to do in your free time?
I follow F1 and football. I also have a dog who I enjoy taking for walks.
Who is your professional role model and why?
My boss from a previous job, he had a huge amount of knowledge. He was an extremely busy man, however he still made time for everyone.
If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be and why?
Toto Wolff (Team Principle of the Mercedes AMG F1 team), he seems like a very interesting, knowledgeable and driven person who is in charge of arguably the most successful Formula One team of all time. Motorsport, especially F1, is one of my passions.
