This weekend will see members of the Aberdeen activpayroll team battle it out against 72 other teams in the hope to become 2016 ANCHOR Wipeout champions.

In addition to Alison’s two cycling challenges, UK Service Delivery Manager, Kimberly Morrison has planned and entered ten different events this year to raise money for Friends of Anchor. Having already completed 7 of the events, including The Kilt Walk, Baker Hughes 10K and Courage on the Catwalk, Kimberly has gathered a team of 10 colleagues, friends and family to take part in the 8th challenge, the 2016 ANCHOR Wipeout.

The Wipeout will take place across two days, with Kimberly’s team taking part on Saturday, 20th August at Hazlehead Park. The event will comprise of 12 relay based games, each of which is team based whereby one or two people will need to manoeuvre obstacles and inflatables in order to complete the game. To show even more support for Friends of ANCHOR, Kimberly’s team will be competing in fancy dress, with everyone dressed as nurses and surgeons.

Friends of Anchor is a cause very close to Kimberly’s heart and many others taking part, for this reason they want to raise as much money as possible to thank those who help fight cancer on a day to day basis.

About Friends of ANCHOR

The Aberdeen and North Centre for Haematology, Oncology and Radiotherapy (ANCHOR) unit is an NHS department at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary which treats patients with all forms of cancer, leukaemia and benign blood disorders throughout the North-east of Scotland including Orkney and Shetland.

Friends of ANCHOR was set up to directly support the ANCHOR unit by committing long-term funding to the following areas:

  • Medical Equipment - Investing in the latest technology to continually develop and improve cancer diagnosis and treatment.
  • Patient Wellbeing – Offering additional care, comfort and support to patients during their time at the ANCHOR unit.
  • Local Research – Funding leading clinicians’ research in Aberdeen to push the boundaries in the fight against cancer.

Without the support of events such as the Wipeout, Friends of ANCHOR would be unable to offer the support that it does for the ANCHOR unit and for vital cancer research projects at the University of Aberdeen. Every penny Friends of ANCHOR receives goes directly to the cause, any admin costs are fully covered by Balmoral Group.
