With the March 15th income tax deadline fast approaching, Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) is offering assistance to businesses by helping them file their final income tax returns for 2020, in addition to their estimated returns for 2021.
TAJ offers support to hundreds of businesses and self-employed individuals across the island, who earn $10 million or less, through its annual Special Taxpayer Assistance Programme (STAP). As the island continues to observe COVID-19 safety protocols, the sessions are being conducts differently this year.
Those wishing to use the service can access support from their local Tax Office through an appointment system, allowing them to safely sit down with a TAJ staff member who will help them file their returns and register for the convenience of the eServices. The system has been designed to help customers ahead of the usual Tax Office rush on March 15th, keeping the safety of its staff and customers in mind.
The sessions run until March 31st and those who make an appointment are asked to take along their income and expenditure statements, valid identification and their Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN), this will allow them to make the most of their scheduled visit to the Tax Office.
TAJ is also offering additional support measures as part of its enhanced income tax support, including virtual sessions, video tutorials and telephone calls.
Businesses should be reminded that all income tax returns should be filed online via the TAJ online portal on or before March 15th.
