On Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th August, Alison took part in a 175 mile cycle around the Grampian Highlands. Although bad weather made the cycle particularly challenging, Ride the North was just a warm up compared to what Alison will be embarking on in November.
Starting in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City on November 26th and finishing in Angkor Wat in Cambodia on December 2nd, Alison will take on the 450 km (approx. 280 miles) challenge with a group of women from all over the UK. Although the challenge is achievable, the team will encounter some very difficult cycling conditions in extreme heat with some days of the cycle covering over 68 miles.
Alison will be taking part in the cycle in aid of one of her four chosen charities, Woman V Cancer. Woman V Cancer overseas cycling challenges in various locations across the world and raises money for three separate charities – Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action. Funds raised are split equally among the three causes. So far, Woman V Cancer has raised a staggering £4.5 million through cycling challenges such as the one Alison is participating in.
Alison would like to thank everyone that has supported the #activAlison campaign so far, may that be through personal or business donations, or those in the activpayroll team that have taken part in charity bake sales, dress down days and supermarket cyclothon. So far an amazing £16,219 has been raised for #activAlison, hopefully further support will allow Alison to smash her £20,000 target by the end of the year!
